Your Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) is excited to share that the LAFD.org website, including the LAFD News and Information, and LAFD ALERT web pages are being updated and redesigned.
In early September the first phase of our online content will launch. There will be an entire re-design of the websites bringing them into compliance with the Federal Government’s Section 508 regulations regarding individuals with disabilities.
The new online content is a collaborative effort between web design firm Lightray and multiple LAFD Sections (Administrative Operations, MIS, Community Liaison Unit, Fire Prevention Bureau, and the Training and Support Bureau). We thank the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation for providing generous financial support for this project. This redesign will provide the LAFD with a new public web presence, showcasing the latest technology, and a user-friendly design and interface, which will allow visitors to quickly and easily navigate the site to find important information about the Department. The site will be easily readable on all types of devices, including computers, tablets and mobile phones.
It is important to note that the new websites will continually evolve as additional features are added and content is updated. During this period, some of our legacy content may be unavailable.
We thank you for your patience as this long-needed project gets underway and we look forward to your feedback once our online content goes live.

Hello Erik, I have some questions about the new website. The first one is there anyway station locations and what Battalions and what Division they are in be included? The website years ago had each Div., Batt., and stations of each. Also it would be nice of each house had a website. Is that possible? This is the website I spend the most time on everyday. Thank you and thank you LAFD.
Tracy,
Thanks for the note, and for your long-standing support of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Erik Scott is enjoying a well deserved day off. As we sense others have similar thoughts, kindly allow me to reply in his absence.
The pending updates to LAFD online content, including LAFD.ORG will launch in September, and remain an ongoing process. Though it may take several weeks to implement the most popular and necessary features, it is our hope that in the coming year, we'll have a clearer presentation of our organization, its members and mission.
One of our goals is (hopefully this year) to include a page specific to each Neighborhood Fire Station.
In the weeks ahead, we'll unveil some (admittedly very) basic offerings, and with your help and guidance, grow them over time. As this long overdue project develops, we'll announce ways for you and others to share your thoughts and offer your opinions.

Thank you Brian, for your reply. I understand that about having a day off. Are you going to keep the Listen Live on the new website? Although I get confused sometimes on the dispatches. I live in Aurora, Colorado and I love hearing the calls. Is there going to be a new glossary? When I read who responded to a fire I see letters I don't know. I guess that's all I can think of at this moment. Thank you all on the LAFD.
Tracy,
You're most welcome. The "listen live" link will remain on this blog and our alert site (it currently links to a privately owned scanner radio) for the time being. There are plans well underway to bring a more than a dozen separate digital quality LAFD audio feeds directly from our Dispatch Center to the Internet. We're not yet sure if they all will route through Broadcastify, the current service provider, or another service. If and when any changes happen, they will be prominently posted here on our LAFD News and Information site. In the coming year, workload permitting, we hope to enhance the on-line information at LAFD.ORG to offer helpful details, like a glossary.
Thanks for your inquiry, and for your interest in the Los Angeles Fire Department.
