LAFD Arson Section Makes Arrest & Shares Suspects' Photos

Tuesday, May 08, 2012 |

On June 17, 2010 the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Championship title at the Staples Center. A large celebratory crowd gathered outside the complex. Individuals began acts of vandalism and arson, which included the burning of a taxicab. Information and evidence provided by spectators in the crowd, enabled the LAFD Arson/Counter-Terrorism Section to identify and subsequently arrest one of the suspects in this case. This suspect has been identified as Darren Cooper. He has been charged with one count of arson to property in the burning of a taxicab.

The Los Angeles Fire Department held a press conference, Wednesday May 9th, 2012 at 9:00 AM at Staples Center, regarding this arrest and asked for the public’s help in identifying five additional suspects.

If you are able to identify anyone in this video, call LAFD Arson/Counter-Terrorism Investigators at (213) 893-9800.
