This week, websites from two of America's leading newspapers featured Los Angeles Fire Department widgets (examples below), and we couldn't be more honored.
In articles related to wildfire in Southern California, the Daily News of Los Angeles and USA Today shared word of our 'Breaking News' widget that you can apply right now to your website, blog, Facebook or MySpace page.
'LAFD Breaking News' and headlines from 'LAFD News & Information' are available. Select one or both, the choice is yours.
Did we mention they are free and simple to install?
We welcome you to join local businesses, homeowner's associations, neighborhood watch groups, public safety enthusiasts - and yes, regional and national newspapers in adding one or both of these to your blog or website.
Getting started is easy. Simply click on the 'Get Widget' tab at the bottom of the item you wish to add to your site. We also make it easy to customize the size, shape and color to fit your needs.

LAFD's efforts on the web are fantastic and a model for public agencies worldwide. Improving the situational awareness of the public in this way can really make a difference, both by increasing interest in safety and readiness, and if the chips are down in L.A. someday.. even save lives!
As a hillside resident, approaching sirens always get our attention. Its so nice to have a place to go to get more information, just the facts, without the hype added by the local media! Thanks!
(Hey LAPD, how bout it!)
a reitz,
Thanks for the note, and your kind words. Please know ours is a seminal effort at best, and that we hope to deeply refine our offerings (to the point of real time 'hyperlocal' information) in the (months and ?) years to come.
Comments to this blog offered in a constructive fashion (even those that at first blush may seem negative) give us the inspiration and desire to make such magic happen.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, and for believing in the mission of your Los Angeles Fire Department.
Respectfully Yours in Safety and Service (and yes, burning the midnight oil),
