Man Dies on Los Angeles Subway Tracks
Shortly before 8:40 AM on Saturday, July 21, 2007, an adult male apparently fell or jumped in the path of a westbound Metro Red Line train at the Westlake/MacArthur Park subway station west of Downtown Los Angeles.
The subway train was unable to stop before striking the man, who was found trapped beneath the trainset.
Despite the prompt response of Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, the man proved beyond their help, and was declared deceased at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The cause of this incident remains under investigation by Los Angeles Police Officers and Sheriff's Deputies, as well as Metro officials.
A positive identification of the decedent, as well as the exact cause, time and manner of his death will be determined by the Coroner's Office.
