Gabcast! LAFD News & Information #2

UPDATE: The hardware crash in our dungeon office was sadly far worse than we initially imagined. Thanks to help from headquarters technical staff we are beginning the road to recovery. Each of us are taking work home in a "late nights and weekends" effort to reconstruct data. Thanks for your patience, your many e-mails and offers of support. We hope to be back on-line soon. We're making great progress and hope to be fully up to speed by the first week of December.

I am sorry to hear that your office is having some tech problems; however, this auto post was pretty "cool". It sounded very professional. Maybe you and your fellow PSO's could do more of these in the future.

Keep up the great work!

Ashley, The reason the "auto post" sounded so professional is because Brian is always a professional, in fact if you look up professional in the dictionary I am pretty sure you will find Brian's picture.

BTW Hey Brian, long time no talk!

I can't hear the audio player. I don't have a computer: I have a web TV.

All:

Thank you for your kind words.

Dear Anonymous:

Thanks for taking the time to make us aware of the incompatibility of the 'flash' audio player from GabCast with WebTV.

While this particular audio post, filed remotely from a personal cell phon, was made necessary due to the catastrophic failure of our office computer system, we do anticipate offering routine audio content with greater frequency in the future.

Though we've strived to make our blog content compatible with all of the many ways to access the internet, we clearly have more to do with regards to WebTV.

Though WebTV visitors comprise less than 1% of our visitors, we pledge to do our utmost at solving problems they may experience.

As an interim solution, we will try to post a text summary of any audio comments as soon as possible.

In that regard, we hope that those who may not be able to directly access the audio file via the graphic (or text link with auto-play function on the destination page), will be able to sense the message we are offering.

Because we lack a 'research and development' staff, we rely on comments such as yours to make us aware of our strengths and shortcomings. Thanks for taking the time to make us aware of the problem in accessing this audio content with WebTV.

Respectfully Yours in Safety and Service,

Brian Humphrey
